Information
About The Security System Used On This Site
We use a technology called Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL), which encrypts (encodes) sensitive
information before it is sent over the Internet. As occurs on all
websites that use Shopping Carts, this security system only goes
into operation when you are asked to enter sensitive personal
information in the blanks provided (e.g. your name, address, phone
number, credit card information, etc). When the Shopping Cart
switches into this encryption (safety) mode, the Internet signals
this fact to you by changing the URL (web address) that you see in
the address bar at the top of your screen, it adds an “s”
(indicating “safety”) to this address. You will see the
http://www. section of the URL change to
https://www when the shopping cart goes into encryption
mode.
On some
browsers as well (but not on others) a padlock icon will appear in
the lower right-hand corner of your screen, in the taskbar. This
indicates that your antivirus system is verifying the security of
the site. Some versions of Norton Antivirus will supply you with
this padlock signal, but other excellent virus protection systems
(and certain versions of Norton) do not show the padlock,
so we suggest that you make sure that encryption is in operation
by watching for the internet signal of security (the added “s”) in
the address bar at the top of your screen.
